About The Hotel Show

The Hotel Show is a trade event for the hotel industry, showcasing the latest products and services for hotels and hospitality businesses. The website serves as the primary source of information for attendees, exhibitors, and industry professionals.

The Objective

The objective of this UX design project was to improve the overall user experience of the website, making it easier for users to find the information they need and to increase engagement with the event.

The Problem

  • The previous website ran on Umbraco. While Umbraco is secure, it is somewhat a pain for the stakeholders (marketing team) to add content in the backend.
  • Focus was lost on the show's specialised features and talks.
  • The Agenda for the show was complex and needed to be presented in a clear and concise way.
Solution

The Solution

User research was conducted to understand the needs and pain points of the website's primary user groups (attendees, exhibitors, and industry professionals) and stakeholders. The research revealed that users were struggling to find the information they needed, and the website's navigation was confusing.

The design was made more visually appealing by incorporating high-quality images and videos of the event. A new layout was created to showcase the event's offerings, making it more engaging for users. A/B testing was used to evaluate the new design, and the results showed a significant improvement in user engagement and satisfaction with the website.

The website was made on the Wordpress platform. To make it more easier for the content creators, the beaver builder plugin was used so they get a "what you see is what you get" option on adding content. This helped the content creators have a better idea of the page structure and plan their content accordingly.

A new agenda "mini site" was created, with a wide range of categories and filters to streamline the talks and conferences happening at the show.
